Bet on Mayweather vs. McGregor

WHY MCGREGOR CAN WIN: Stepping into a boxing ring for the first time, it’s hard to see what there is to like about the Irishman on Saturday, but there is some value in the upset. McGregor’s biggest assets for this bout will be his size and strength. Though he will weigh in on Friday at 154 pounds, McGregor could be up to 170 pounds by fight time. The MMA champ is used to making big weight cuts leading up to a fight and then tacking weight back on quickly. McGregor is also a southpaw, which has given Mayweather troubles in the past. McGregor has shown knockout ability with one punch in the octagon, and the fight will feature lighter gloves than normal for a boxing match. If he can connect clear, he can score the win.

WHY MCGREGOR CAN LOSE: This answer is pretty obvious. McGregor can lose because he’s not a professional boxer and he’s facing an unbeaten god of the boxing world. It’s hard to imagine McGregor being able to out-point Mayweather for 12 rounds and win that way. His only way to win will be with the knockout by Mayweather has proven time and again to be one of the most difficult boxers in history to connect on. Mayweather has speed that opponents just aren’t prepared for when the bell rings. McGregor also hasn’t been tested in MMA against a striker of this caliber, so his chin also hasn’t been soundly challenged. He could find himself folding like paper when hit by a properly trained boxer in the right spot.
