The champion, Dillashaw (12-2) is listed with a money line of -140 to win. These two meet on Sunday night from the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The fight card airs live on Sunday at 10PM ET on FS1. Cruz hasn’t lost since 2007 and it will take a great performance to beat him on Sunday.
The Originator: Dillashaw has had a meteoric rise to the top of the division thanks to getting a surprise title shot in 2014 after an injury sidelined another challenger. He showed off great footwork and movement, many of which compared to Cruz. However, Cruz was the first to fight in this style and has been doing it for longer than Dillashaw. Cruz may be able to beat Dillashaw at his own game.
Experience: Cruz has fought in a number of high-profile fights, something Dillashaw is getting accustomed to. Dillashaw’s first fight with Renan Barao saw him as a huge underdog. His only other major fight was the rematch with Barao, which he did win, but Cruz has been in the spotlight for many years. He knows how to handle the pressure and still fight at a high level.
