Velasquez survived an early attack by Lesnar and was able to neutralize his wrestling before landing some powerful strikes that sent Lesnar to the ground where Velasquez finished him with relentless strikes. Velasquez had a betting line of +115 according to online sports book BroburySports.com meaning a bet of $100 on him will pay out an additional $115.
In the co-main event, Jake Shields (-260) squeaked out a split decision victory over Martin Kampmann. Shields was the victor on two of the judges’ three scorecards. Shields was able to score takedowns and advance position in each round while Kampmann had better strikes and at times, better wrestling, but was a little bit too slow to get the victory.
In another featured bout, Matt Hamill (-170) defeated Tito Ortiz by unanimous decision on Saturday. Hamill was quicker with his hands than Ortiz in the later rounds and scored two big takedowns in the second and third rounds to seal the deal on a win.
