UFC 123 Betting Odds
The UFC makes its return to Michigan on Saturday when the Palace of Auburn Hills hosts UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida at 10PM ET on Pay-Per-View.
The card features 11 bouts including two main event fights that showcase some of the best fighters in the UFC Light Heavyweight and Welterweight Divisions. Here is a closer look at the main event bouts for UFC 123 along with the odds for all 11 fights.
Machida vs. Rampage
The main event of Saturday’s card is a battle between former Light Heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (30-8) and Lyoto Machida (16-1). Machida enters the fight as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BroburySports.com with a betting line of -280 while Jackson comes in at +220. Both men are coming off losses as Machida suffered his first loss in a first round knockout via Mauricio Rua while Jackson lost a decision to rival Rashad Evans. Both me are strikers, with Rampage being mostly a counter striker that uses big punches while Machida is a karate expert that likes to counter with quick strikes and kicks and also mixes in trips and takedowns. Machida seems to have more skills that Rampage but Rampage has one-punch knockout power.
Hughes vs. Penn III
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a trilogy fight between former UFC Welterweight champions Matt Hughes (45-7) and B.J. Penn (15-7-1). Penn won the first meeting via first-round choke back in 2004 while Hughes won the rematch via TKO in the third round back in 2006. Penn is the favorite with a betting line of -175 while Hughes has a line of +145. Penn is coming off back-to-back losses to lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and is now moving up to welterweight to face Hughes, who has won three straight fights. Hughes is a strong wrestler with good submission skills while Penn is a quick striker that was a former jiu-jitsu world champion. Penn has shown better skills in the two fights, but lost the second bout due to fatigue. Conditioning will play a big role in this fight.
