In the first non-title fight to go a full five rounds since the UFC instituted a new policy, Henderson won a unanimous decision over Rua, with all three judges scoring the fight 48-47 in favor of the former Strikeforce champion. Henderson started big, nearly finishing Rua in each of the first two rounds. As the third round started, Henderson began to tire and Rua began to turn up the heat. In the fourth round, Rua nearly finished Henderson late and in the fifth, Rua spent the entire round on top of Henderson, but judges felt Henderson had done enough to win the fight.
According to oddsmakers, Henderson had a money line of +115 to win the fight, meaning a $100 wager on Henderson will pay out an additional $115.
In the co-main event, middleweight Wanderlei Silva pulled off an upset as well, defeating Cung Le by second round TKO. Silva took a beating in the early going, eating a number of kicks and punches, but he survived the early storm and then turned up the pressure on Le, eventually catching with a hook and a series of knees that led to the stoppage. Silva had odds of +130 to win the fight, meaning a $100 wager on Silva will pay out an additional $130.
