UFC 141 takes place Friday night and the main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10PM ET. The event takes place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Preliminary bouts will air on Facebook and Fuel TV.
The main event of UFC 141 has former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (5-2) taking on the last Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, Alistair Overeem (35-11). Lesnar hasn’t competed since last October due to health issues, while Overeem has never fought in the UFC. Still, oddsmakers see Overeem as the slight favorite in this contest, giving him a money line of -150 while Lesnar comes in with odds of +120. Overeem is an elite-level striker, as he is a K-1 world kickboxing champion. Lesnar is more known for his wrestling, but he has powerful hands if he lands the punch. The key to this fight will be whether or not Overeem is able to stuff the takedowns of Lesnar and if Lesnar can eat a punch or two from Overeem without losing his composure.
In the co-main event, lightweights Donald Cerrone (17-3) and Nate Diaz (14-7) will face off in a battle of two top contenders. Cerrone has had a crazy year already, winning four times in the octagon, including a first-round submission win over Dennis Siver back at UFC 137 in October. Diaz is coming off a first round submission of Takanori Gomi at UFC 135, which was his first win in three fights. Oddsmakers see Cerrone as the clear favorite in this one, giving him a money line of -275 while Diaz has odds of +215 to win. Both fighters are very sound submission fighters but Diaz has the edge on that. In the striking game, both are also sound there, but Cerrone is a kickboxing champion, so he gets the nod there. Cerrone is the better wrestler, but this fight will probably be a fast-paced scramble and should be the most exciting fight on the card.
