LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Alistair Overeem made his UFC debut a good one as he stopped Brock Lesnar in the first round of the main event of UFC 141 on Friday night.

Overeem, the former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, made short work of Lesnar by beating him in 2:26 of the opening round. Overeem worked his way inside Lesnar’s reach and landed some knees to the body that drew a noticeable grimace from the former UFC champ. Overeem then avoid a couple of takedown attempts from Lesnar and eventually landed a kick to the body of Lesnar that sent Lesnar crashing to the ground. Overeem followed up with a series of punches to end the fight. Following the contest, Lesnar retired from the UFC, ending his MMA career at 5-3.
According to oddsmakers, Alistair Overeem had odds of -150 to win Friday’s main event, which means a wager of $150 on Overeem will pay out an additional $100.
In the co-main event, lightweight Nate Diaz defeated Donald Cerrone by unanimous decision in a slugfest. Oddsmakers saw Diaz as the underdog coming into the contest, as he had odds of +215 to win the fight, meaning a wager of $100 on Diaz will pay out an additional $215. Diaz won the fight by using his accurate jab to land a number of unanswered punches on Cerrone. Diaz mixed in body shots and hooks and left Cerrone a bloody mess after 15 minutes of action.
