Johnson submits Cariaso
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Demetrious Johnson put on his best showing yet on Saturday, beating Chris Cariaso by submission in the second round.

Johnson (21-2-1) never was in danger in his fight, showing complete control of Cariaso (17-6) with his speed and wrestling. Johnson nearly finished the fight by TKO in the first, but Cariaso survived. In the second, Johnson continued to put on the pressure and got his opponent to the ground, securing a kimura, which forced a tap. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson was the overwhelming favorite to win, as he had odds of -1400 to prevail, which means a wager of $1400 on him will pay out an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s event saw Donald Cerrone (25-6) defeat Eddie Alvarez (25-4) by unanimous decision. Alvarez, who was making his UFC debut after being the Bellator champ, came in strong, landing a series of punches on Cerrone that rocked the opponent, but couldn’t send him down. In the second and third rounds, Cerrone went to his knees and kicks to work on the body and legs of Alvarez. By the end of the third, Alvarez couldn’t plant on his lead leg and Cerrone easily earned the win in the judges’ eyes. Oddsmakers had Cerrone as the slight favorite to win, as he had odds of -120 to prevail, which means a wager of $120 on him to win will pay out an additional $100.
