McGregor is 5-0 in the UFC and his talk, along with his talents, have made him one of the hottest stars in the UFC right now. Mendes has beat everyone in his way except for Aldo. He has a great wrestling background that will test McGregor’s skills. There is a lot of bad blood between the two.
The latest odds according to oddsmakers at GTBets have McGregor as the favorite to win, as he is getting odds of -200 to prevail. Mendes has been given odds of +160 to win. These two meet in the main event of UFC 189 tonight at 10PM ET on PPV, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
This fight is tough to call. It really is an interesting matchup. McGregor has looked unbeatable, but he hasn’t faced someone with Mendes’ wrestling ability or conditioning. Mendes has good power, but it would be a mistake for him to try and slug it out with McGregor, who is a very crisp striker. The longer this fight goes, the more it should favor Mendes, who has gone five tough rounds before. While McGregor is the hot name and hot on the betting lines, something tells me Mendes finds a way to grind this win out. I think his money line is too appealing to pass up.
