Rousey (12-0) puts her UFC women’s bantamweight strap up for grabs for the seventh time tonight when she takes on a fellow unbeaten in Holm (9-0). Rousey has won all her fights by stoppage with the last four ending in 66 seconds or less. She has won her last three in under 35 seconds. Holm is a skilled striker that has won numerous boxing championships, but her grappling hasn’t been tested to this level. Holm is 2-0 in the UFC, but both wins were by decision. She has been able to keep opponents at bay with her length and striking, but she will likely need a KO punch or kick to win this fight.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rousey is currently a -1600 favorite to win tonight, while Holm has a money line of +800 to win. These two meet tonight in the main event of UFC 193, live from Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. UFC 193 airs live on PPV at 10PM ET.
Rousey has been improving throughout her career and she has recently expressed a desire to win a boxing championship following her MMA career. She picked apart a striker in Bethe Correia at UFC 190, but if she wants to display her striking in this fight, she could find herself losing. Holm has much more experience in that aspect. Rousey can easily win this fight with her judo and submission grappling and ultimately, I would expect her to return to that if she feels unsure about how the fight is going. If she is looking to make a point against Holm, she opens herself up to an upset. I think Rousey is smart enough to do what it takes to win either way, and emerge as champion once again.
