According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the champion, Aldo, is currently favored with a line of -125 despite being the underdog for months. McGregor now has a money line of -105 to win. These two meet in the main event of UFC 194 tonight at 10PM ET from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Aldo (25-1) has never lost in the UFC and he hasn’t been beaten since 2005. He is looking to defend his UFC championship for the eighth time, but faces an opponent in McGregor (18-2) who has truly harassed him for a year. McGregor is 6-0 in the UFC and coming off a second-round TKO of Chad Mendes back in July. These two were originally supposed to meet at that event, but Aldo had to pull out due to a rib injury.
Both men are tremendous strikers. Both can use their hands and feet to finish fights and both also have unusual movements, which makes this a hard fight to call. Aldo may have never have fought anyone like McGregor, but McGregor has definitely not fought someone like Aldo. Aldo brings debilitating leg kicks that have stopped opponents on more than one occasion. With McGregor relying so much on his footwork, getting his lead leg taken out will certainly impact his overall game plan. If Aldo is able to land some kicks early, it should allow him to control the fight. McGregor must strike quickly in order to win, but Aldo isn’t known for slow starts. Look for the champ to silence his challenger.
