UFC 232 Predictions
Two UFC championships will be up for grabs tonight when UFC 232 takes place in Los Angeles. Here’s our predictions for the key fights set to take place.
UFC 232 will be held from The Forum in Inglewood, California after originally being scheduled to take place in Las Vegas. The main card for the event will begin at 10PM ET and air live on PPV.
24101 Alexander Gustafsson vs. 24102 Jon Jones
The main event of tonight’s card is for the now-vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Championship as Jon Jones (22-1) faces Alexander Gustafsson (18-4). According to the latest oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Jones is the favorite in this fight, as he is getting odds of -285 to win, while Gustafsson is listed with odds of +245 to win. These two met back in September of 2013 where Jones won by decision. Jones was the former UFC champion that was stripped of his title following some legal issues. His last fight came in July of 2017 where he beat Daniel Cormier, but had the result changed to a no contest following a failed drug test. Gustafsson has won his last two fights, but hasn’t fought since May of 2017. The long layoff will be problematic for both fights, but Jones has the better overall ability. He hasn’t legitimately lost a fight in his career and I don’t this Gus has the solution to this puzzle. UFC 232 Prediction: Jon Jones -285
24105 Amanda Nunes vs. 24106 Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino
The co-main event of tonight’s event is a highly-anticipated Women’s Featherweight Championship fight between Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (20-1) and current bantamweight champ, Amanda Nunes (16-4). According to oddsmakers, Cyborg is the favorite in this fight, as she is getting odds of -240 to win. Nunes is listed with +205 odds to prevail. Cyborg has been the most dominant female MMA fighter in history. She hasn’t lost since her debut in 2004. And is 5-0 in the UFC. Nunes has won her last seven fights, including a dominant 48-second TKO of Ronda Rousey. While Nunes is moving up in weight, she has the best technical boxing that Cyborg has faced. Cyborg went five rounds with Holly Holm, another technical striker. However, Holm doesn’t have the punching power Nunes does. If Nunes can survive the quick storm of Cyborg in the beginning, I think she can land some big counters and win this fight. I feel Nunes is too much of an underdog here and has the best betting value. UFC 232 Prediction: Amanda Nunes +205
24109 Michael Chiesa vs. 24110 Carlos Condit
Another featured bout tonight is in the welterweight division as Chiesa (14-4) makes his 170-pound debut to face veteran fighter, Condit (30-12). According to oddsmakers, Chiesa is the favorite in this fight, as he is getting odds of -160 to win. Condit is listed with a money line of +140 to prevail. Chiesa moved up in weight after back-to-back submission losses to Anthony Pettis and Kevin Lee. Condit has lost four straight fights, including a submission loss in April to Alex Oilveira. Condit seems a step slower and has struggled to out-grapple his opponents lately. Chiesa will try to grapple and push a fast pace, which should work out to his advantage. Condit just doesn’t have that finishing punch and I see him having to defend a lot in this fight. UFC 232 Prediction: Michael Chiesa -160
