UFC 240 Predictions
The UFC Featherweight Championship is up for grabs when the current champ faces a former lightweight champ in the main event of UFC 240. Here’s some picks to consider for the card tonight.
UFC 240 will be held from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card for the event will begin at 10PM ET and air live on PPV as part of ESPN+.
24501 Frankie Edgar vs. 24502 Max Holloway
The main event features featherweight champ Max Holloway (20-4) defending his title against Frankie Edgar (23-6-1). According to the oddsmakers, Holloway is favored to win, as he is listed with -375 to prevail. Edgar is getting a money line of +310 to win the title. Holloway is coming off a lightweight loss to Dustin Poirier in April, but he had won 13 straight fights prior to that. Edgar is a former 155-pount champ that has come up short in his attempt to win at 145 pounds. These two were scheduled to meet before, but an injury derailed it. Holloway has the length edge and applies a strong pressure that will be hard for Edgar to deal with. Edgar is a game fighter, but his best days have past him bye. Holloway is truly one of the best the UFC has. UFC 240 Prediction: Max Holloway -375
24505 Felicia Spencer vs. 24506 Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino
The co-main event of tonight’s card is a women’s featherweight bout between the former champ in Cyborg (20-2) and an unbeaten challenger in Spencer (7-0). According to oddsmakers, Cyborg is the clear favorite to win, as she is getting odds of -500 to win. Spencer has a money line of +385 to prevail. Cyborg is coming off a 51-second KO loss to Amanda Nunes in December. It was her. First loss since 2005. Spencer has just one UFC fight under her belt and is definitely taking on the toughest opponent of her career. Cyborg will be looking to make a statement tonight and I expect her to run through Spencer quickly. UFC 240 Prediction: Cristiane Justino -500
24521 Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. 24522 Arman Tsarukyan
One bout where an upset may be possible is a lightweight bout between Olivier Aubin-Mercier (11-4) and Arman Tsarukyan (13-2). Oddsmakers see Tsarukyan as the favorite, as he is getting odds of -155 to win. Aubin-Mercier is listed with a money line of +135 to prevail. Aubin-Mercier is coming off back-to-back decision losses, but he is a very game fighter that has all-around skills. He will be fighting in his home country, which should provide an extra boost. Tsarukyan is in his second UFC bout and his first was a loss just a few weeks back in April. I think he is going to have a hard time out-grinding Aubin-Mercier tonight. UFC 240 Prediction: Olivier Aubin-Mercier +135
