Mir (16-9) is a former heavyweight champion, but he is riding a four-fight losing streak with two of the four losses coming by KO. His last win came in December of 2011. Silva (18-6-1) is coming off a KO loss last September to Andrei Arlovski and is just 2-4-1 in his last seven fights.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Silva is favored to win this bout, as he is getting odds of -275 to win, while Mir has a money line of +215 to prevail. These two will meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Sunday. The event airs on Fox Sports 1 starting at 8PM ET.
Silva is a very big man with big hands, literally. His whole hand can usually take up an opponent’s entire face. One solid punch from him can certainly KO Mir. Mir is a submission specialist with some respectable striking, but he will need this fight to get to the ground to win. If this fight stays standing, it is likely to end with Silva getting a KO victory.
