Lewis vs. Hunt Odds
Two powerful UFC heavyweight strikers are set to collide in New Zealand on Saturday when Derrick Lewis battles Mark Hunt. Here is a look at the odds for this battle.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Lewis is listed as the slight favorite in the bout, as he is getting odds of -125 to win. Hunt is listed with a money line of -105 to pick up the victory. These two meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Saturday from the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. The main card airs live on FS1 at 10PM ET.
Hunt (12-11) will be fighting in his home country. The “Super Samoan” doesn’t have the best record, but is still a dangerous fighter at all times because of his powerful hands. He has put the likes of Frank Mir, Antonio Silva and Roy Nelson to sleep in the past. His last fight was in March, when he suffered a third-round KO loss to Alistair Overeem due to a knee. Hunt has great power, but lacks a lot of endurance due to his flabby build. Still, he can take a punch and has some good takedown defense.
Lewis (18-4) is the hot name in the heavyweight division right now. The “Black Beast” has won his last six fights, with five of the wins coming by KO. His last outing saw him knockout Travis Browne in the second round back in February. He also fought a former Hunt opponent in Nelson, but only won by split decision. Like Hunt, Lewis has big power in his hands and he can also mix in some kicks. Also like Hunt, his size causes him to lack a little in endurance. This fight is likely to be a slugfest, with the one who lands the first big shot getting the win.
