Strasser calls out “sham” Roufus
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – During a recent podcast UFC fighter Dave Strasser didn’t have many positive things to say about trainer Duke Roufus.
The podcast was hosted by Get More Sports blogger Miguel Iturrate, who asked Strasser about Roufus in the contest of CM Punk and his departure from wrestling, as well as the probable return to MMA. Strasser then went on to call out Roufus for being a “salesman” and a sham.”
“Duke Rufous is a total sham of a coach,” Strasser said in the podcast. “He’s a horrible coach. He knows nothing. If you look at his career, he’s just a salesman. He’s just a complete salesman.”
Strasser didn’t stop there.
“He’s never even really kick-boxed that much. I mean if you watch, his world titles were on his show,” Strasser said. “I mean he beat that guy from Australia who was like 4-21 in K-1 fighting. Every time there was a big K-1 tournament, his brother would fight but he would claim injury.”
Strasser even took a shot at Roufus for the perceived notion that Roufus is always injured.
“He was even on that Best Damn Sports show, showing how he could kick, and they said, ‘Oh we’re going to get to see you this weekend?’ and he would say, ‘Oh no no no, I’m injured.’
“He was always injured. He was like the guy that would sit around, sit around and then he’d jump in and be like, ‘Oh I’m going to be a world title fighter.’ He really is not a fighter and for him to claim that is a joke and I think he’s a horrible coach.”
