UFC Vegas 53 Main Event Best Bet

Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera

UFC Bantamweight Main Event Bout

UFC Vegas 53 takes place on Saturday, April 30th, live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Fight Pass and ESPN+.

Rob Font

Knockout Record: 8-0

Submission Record: 4-1

SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 5.64

The No.6 ranked bantamweight globally, Rob Font, resumes his quest to obtain championship contender status on Saturday evening. With some of the sharpest and most technical boxing offense on the roster, it’s difficult not to envision him one day accomplishing this goal.

Font has fought a collection of the most elite bantamweight fighters on the planet, most notably defeating Bellator MMA’s current champion Sergio Pettis, former UFC champion Cody Garbrandt, and former UFC title challenger Marlon Moraes.

Marlon Vera

Professional MMA Record: 18-7-1

Knockout Record: 7-0

Submission Record: 8-0

SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 4.08

SIG Strike Accuracy: 55.04%

Takedown Average: 0.82

Takedown Accuracy: 42.31%

Submission Average: 1.27

Most known for his impeccable finish rate percentage inside the octagon, Ecuadorian stand out Marlon Vera has boasted an impressive tenure within the UFC for the previous eight years. With a 12-6 UFC record, just 2 of his 12 victories were decided on the judges’ scorecards, proving Chito’s danger when the cage door closes.

After derailing the hype train of Sean O’Malley, Vera was gifted with the fight of his career when put up against the legendary Jose Aldo. However, as a prior trend once again came to fruition, Vera struggles with the upper echelon of strikers who aren’t easily taken down.

Font vs. Vera Fight Analysis and UFC Vegas 53 Betting Odds

Sportsbooks across the board support Rob Font as a moderate betting favorite, and I agree.

As previously mentioned, when Vera is faced with a diverse striking skillset, he can often struggle; he does own the one-shot knockout power, whether it’s via punches or kicks, but Font is going to deliver a technical boxing output that will put the Ecuadorian under severe pressure.

UFC Vegas 53 Co-Main Event Best Bet

Jake Collier vs. Andrei Arlovski

UFC Heavyweight Bout

UFC Vegas 53 takes place on Saturday, April 30th, live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Fight Pass and ESPN+.

Andrei Arlovski

Professional MMA Record: 33-20-0

Knockout Record: 6-2

Submission Record: 15-8

SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 3.72

SIG Strike Accuracy: 49.46%

Takedown Average: 0.42

Takedown Accuracy: 36.67%

Submission Average: 0.23

Fifty-three professional MMA bouts, a career that spans over twenty years, a former UFC champion, and aged 43-years-old, the legend that is Andrei Arlovski is still competing at the highest level of the sport whilst riding a 3-fight win streak.

We cannot praise the accomplishments of Arlovski by simply highlighting his achievements; he’s broken countless records and will carry the respect of the MMA community so long as the sport exists.

Jake Collier

Professional MMA Record: 13-6-0

Knockout Record: 2-1

Submission Record: 6-0

SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 2.07

SIG Strike Accuracy: 66.28%

Takedown Average: 2.87

Takedown Accuracy: 38.71%

Submission Average: 0.96

Former middleweight turned light heavyweight and now competing in the UFC’s heavyweight division; Jake Collier has had quite the journey since making his UFC debut eight years ago. However, the 185lb agility of Collier is seemingly playing to his favor versus the slower and more sluggish approach from some of the heavyweight opponents he has faced thus far.

Collier has the opportunity to put his name on the heavyweight map this Saturday, and it’ll unquestionably be the most significant fight of his career should he be able to leave Las Vegas in the win column.

Arlovski vs. Collier Fight Analysis and UFC Vegas 53 Betting Odds

The available UFC odds are positioning Collier as a slight betting underdog. Although the experience of Arlovski is never easy to ignore, recency bias can often play its part in dictating the available value.

Collier can match the speed and deliver a higher output of strikes than Arlovski, something that most men haven’t been able to do versus the legend in recent years. This fight will come down to production, and I expect the former middleweight to have a speed, output, and precision advantage to achieve a winning night.
