2010 NASCAR Heath Calhoun 400 Picks & Predictions

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races under the lights this week for the Heath Calhoun 400 on Saturday night.

It won't be easy to top last week’s thriller from Talladega, but Richmond International Speedway always seems to produce a exciting race.

Bet the Heath Calhoun 400

With the feud building between teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, this week should be interesting. Short track racing tends to be the perfect spot for a little payback, so the feud should add a bit more drama than we’re used to. While Richmond is considered a short track, it tends not to act like one since you will see much more speed here, which always makes this one of the more exciting races of the year.

Kyle Busch 8/1

It's not often you will see us bet Kyle Busch since he rarely offers any value, but with his history here it's one of those races that he is just too good to pass up. In 10 races at Richmond, Busch has been amazing, with eight top 5’s finishes. Of those finishes, he was the runner up three times for an average finish of 6.0, which tops all drivers. This team is really starting to come together and we think he should pickup his first win of the year.

Jeff Gordon 8/1

We think Jeff Gordon will be fired up this week after he’s essentially had the car to beat the past few races, but has been knocked out of contention thanks to his teammate. Every year, whoever has success at Phoenix usually will have success at Richmond and Gordon had the dominant car at Phoenix. Though he hasn't won here in sometime, he does have six straight top 10 finishes, which shows he can still get around Richmond with the best of them.

Live Longshot

Tony Stewart 12/1

For years, Tony Stewart was usually the race favorite whenever he came to Richmond and with three wins here, he was justified in being the favorite. In his last 10 races at Richmond, he has only finished outside of the top 10 twice, with five top 5 finishes in those 10 races. He has an amazing average finish of 10.6 in his last 20 races here. Stewart has always been a slow starter, but he seems to be coming alive a bit sooner this year and a win wouldn't surprise us this week.
