2010 NASCAR Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 Picks & Predictions

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway Sunday for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400.

Michigan International Speedway is known for giving us some pretty boring races with long green runs and very little passing. It might be the one track where fuel mileage is more important than how are car handles, which decides most races these days.

Drivers to keep a eye on this week are the cars from Roush Fenway Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. All of the cars from these teams will have the new Ford R9 engine this week and what better place to test them out then Michigan International Speedway? The few times where this engine has been on the track this year, they have been very fast and are worth a look this week.

Kurt Busch +12/1

The one driver who has stood out this year on this type of track is Kurt Busch, who has two wins and eight top 10s in nine races. The two tracks that resemble Michigan the most are California and Atlanta, where Busch dominated the field for an easy win and finished sixth at California. This is the type of track where either you have it or you don't and this team has shown us all year they are the best car when it comes to this type of track and race.

Live Longshots

Matt Kenseth +20/1 & Carl Edwards +20/1

Michigan International Speedway is the type of track that Roush Fenway Racing dominated over the years, but since the COT came along they seemed to lose the stranglehold they had over all the other teams. Jack Roush loves winning here. Not only will he be racing in front of the bosses from Ford, but what better way for the new R9 to make its debut than in a Roush Fenway Racing car in victory lane?

If we had to lean on one driver over the other, it would be Matt Kenseth, who has run well all year long while Carl Edwards shows no sign of breaking out of his slump. (A slump that dates back to last season when he failed to win a race.)
