2010 NASCAR Odds: Aaron’s 499 – Jimmie Johnson Favored

The 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to one its most famous tracks on Sunday as the 2010 Aaron’s 499 takes place from Talladega Superspeedway.

The 2.66 mile track of Talladega brings out the fasters speeds and most competitive racing and series leader Jimmie Johnson is favored to win the race.

Johnson is a 6/1 favorite to win the race according to odds makers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (8/1), Tony Stewart (8/1), and Jeff Gordon (8/1).

Johnson is currently 108 points ahead of Matt Kenseth in the standings. He has three wins this season and finishing inside the top 10 in six of his last seven races. Johnson won this event in 2006 and was second in 2007. He has just the one career win on this track with an average finish of 17th and a driver rating of 82.7.

Kyle Busch won this event in 2008, but has finished 25th or worse in three of his last four Aaron’s 499s. Busch has an average finish of 24.6 at this track with a driver rating of 76.4 He is currently sixth in the Sprint Cup standings, 228 points behind Johnson. He has finished in the top 10 in three of his last four events, but is seeking his first win of 2010.

Tony Stewart is 12th in the season standings, 307 points behind Johnson. Smoke has finished outside the top 20 in his last three races and he has just one top five this season. Stewart has one career win on this track with nine top five’s. His average finish is 14.7 while his driver rating is 89.9.

Gordon is a four-time winner of this event, with the last coming in 2007. He has six wins in his career at Talladega and 13 top five’s. His average finish is 16.5 while his driver rating is 17.4. Gordon is fifth in the standings, 220 points behind Johnson. He has no wins on the season and three top five finishes in 2010.

2009 champion Brad Keselowski has the top driver rating and average finish on this track in the series. He has a driver rating of 94.2 and an average finish of 4.5 Keselwoski has 40/1 odds to win the race.
