2010 NASCAR Odds: Auto Club 500 – Jimmie Johnson Favored by Oddsmakers
After a crazy Daytona 500 last Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hopes for more excitement this Sunday with the 2010 Auto Club 500.
The event takes place from Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California and four-time defending Sprint Cup champion, Jimmie Johnson, is favored to win the race.
Johnson is a 9/2 favorite to win the race according to odds makers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Mark Martin (8/1), Jeff Gordon (8/1), and Kyle Busch (8/1).
Johnson is coming off an uncharacteristic 35th place finish at the Daytona 500 last weekend. Coming to Auto Club Speedway, Johnson is a tour-time winner at this track, including the 2002 race in Feb. Johnson’s average finish at this track is 5.8 and he has a series-best driver rating of 122.3 at this track.
Martin won this race in 1998 and is coming off a 12th place finish last weekend. Martin has just one career win on this track and an average finish of 14.3. His driver rating is 97.4, which ranks eighth among active drivers.
Jeff Gordon is a three-time winner of this event, winning in 1997, 1999, and 2004. Gordon finished 26th last weekend, but he has the fifth-best driver rating of the series in Fontana at 100.3. His average finish is 10.5
Kyle Busch has not won this event, but has one career win on this track. His average finish is 10.5 and his driver rating is 102.9, which ranks fourth. He finished 14th in the Daytona 500.
Matt Kenseth has won three of the last four Auto Club 500 events, but has odds of 15/1 for this weekend. His average finish at this track is 9.3 and his driver rating is 109.7, which is second only to Johnson.
