2010 NASCAR Odds - Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 – Two Favored

The 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Pocono Raceway this week for the running of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500.

In this week’s race, Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin are equally favored to win.

The two have been given 5/1 odds to win the race according to odds makers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Jeff Gordon (8/1), Kyle Busch (8/1), Kurt Busch (8/1).

Jonson is currently seventh in the standings, 204 points behind leader Kevin Harvick. Johnson has struggled as of late, finishing 10th or worse in his last six races. Johnson won this event in 2004 and has finished in the top 10 the last two years. In his career at Pocono, Johnson has two wins with an average finish of 9.8 and a driver rating of 103.1, which ranks third in the series.

Hamlin won this event in 2006 and was third in 2008. He currently is fifth in the point standings, 166 points outside of Harvick. Hamlin has three wins on five top 5’s on the year. At Pocono, Hamlin has three wins and an average finish of 9.5. His driver rating of 115.9 is tops among any driver in the series.

Gordon is fourth in the standings, 138 points out of first place. Gordon is winless in 2010 but has five top 5’s. Gordon won this event in 2007, 1997, and 1996. Gordon has four wins in his career at Pocono and has an average finish of 10.0 with a driver rating of 97.3.

Kyle Busch is second in the standings, 29 points out of first. Busch had two wins and eight top 10’s in 2010. He is winless on this track with an average finish of 21.4 and a driver rating of 78.9.

Kurt Busch is coming off back-to-back wins in consecutive weeks, though one was in an exhibition race. He sits sixth in the standings, 172 points behind Harvick. He has two wins and seven top 10’s on the year. At Pocono, Kurt has two wins in his career with an average finish of 16.5 and a driver rating of 105.9, which is second to Hamlin.
