Coming off his first win of the season, the defending Sprint Cup champion, Jimmie Johnson, is again favored to win this week’s race.
Johnson is a 9/2 favorite to win the race according to odds makers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Mark Martin (7/1), Kyle Busch (8/1), Jeff Gordon (10/1), Tony Stewart (12/1), and Denny Hamlin (12/1).
Johnson won this race in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He had four top 10’s in his career at this track with an average finish of 11.1. His driver rating is tops of any active driver at 113.6.
Martin won this event in 1998, his only career win on this track. He does hold nine top 10’s in his career and has an average finish of 13.5. His driver rating at Las Vegas is 94.9, which ranks sixth in the series.
Busch is the defending champion of this event and he holds two pole victories and four top 10’s at Las Vegas in his short career. His average finish is 11.2 and his driver rating is 109.4, which ranks third.
Gordon won this event in 2001. He holds six top 10’s in his career at this track with an average finish of 12.8. His driver rating is 92.3, which ranks eighth.
Stewart has not won on this track but hold four top 5’s and six top 10’s. His average finish is 15.5 and his driver rating is 93.5, which ranks seventh amongst active drivers.
