2010 NASCAR Pennsylvania 500 Picks & Predictions
This week NASCAR returns to Pocono Raceway on Sunday for the Pennsylvania 500 and thanks to a recent race here, handicapping this event should be a little easier.
When handicapping the Pennsylvania 500, we have to look at last week’s race since Indianapolis and Pocono are very similar. Pay close attention to those drivers who bring the same car they raced last week, especially if they had a good day at Indy.
Denny Hamlin 7/2
Just a few weeks ago, Hamlin was the hottest driver in the Sprint Cup Series but we haven't seen him up front lately, which should change this week. In his first five races at Pocono, Hamlin looked unbeatable with two wins, two top-3’s and a sixth-place finish. But after that, he has been victimized with bad racing luck. Since those two bad outings, he has run the last two races well here and is our pick to make it three in a row.
Live Longshots
Mark Martin 25/1
Mark Martin has always run extremely well at Pocono and it is one of the few tracks he has never won at despite turning in good performances. Martin had a dominant car last week but once again came up short. Just like last week’s race, Martin was one of the favorites for this race last year and we think you have to give him another look this week.
Juan Pablo Montoya 22/1
Last week’s race was the perfect example of how Montoya’s season has gone all year. Montoya has showed he runs well on this type of track, with good runs both here and at Indy - only to have his day ruined by bad luck. If he can keep his car out of trouble, he could finally get that elusive first win on an oval.
What a year for Montoya ??? he has run into bad luck what seems like every race almost.

Biffle was a easy play if you followed this. ;D
