Bet on 2011 NASCAR Championship
The 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season gets started in a little over a month and the odds are out for which driver will walk away with the season championship.
Jimmie Johnson, the five-time defending series champion, is the pre-season favorite to win again according to the online sports book Sportsbook.com. Johnson 5/2 odds to win the 2011 championship while other short odds are Denny Hamlin (6/1) and Carl Edwards (6/1).
Johnson is the obvious favorite with the shortest odds as he has dominated the series for the last half of the decade. He had a close call in 2010 but still found a way to win the title. Johnson hasn’t finished outside of the top 5 of the point standings since he started racing full-time in 2002.
Hamlin was leading the series heading into the final race of 2010, but was unable to close the deal, losing to Johnson by 39 points. Hamlin has gradually improved his point standing each season, finishing eighth in 2008, fifth in 2009, and second last year. Hamlin led the series with eight wins in 2010.
Edwards finished fourth in the standings last year and was runner-up in 2008. Edwards has only won two races over the last two races but he steadily has been in contention in each race, which is why he has short odds to win this year.
Tony Stewart was the last man to win the Sprint Cup championship other than Johnson. He has 12/1 odds to win this year.
