2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Odds: Stewart & Edwards Favored

(TheSpread) – The NASCAR Sprint cup Series will be entering its 2012 season next February and the odds are out for which driver will win the season-long championship.
According to oddsmakers, Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart, the two drivers that battled it out for this year’s championship, are the favorites to win the 2012 title. Both drivers have 5/1 odds while Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth each have 6/1 odds.
Stewart won this year’s championship thanks to winning five races in the Chase for the Championship. Stewart has won the Sprint Cup Championship three times in his career.
Edwards was tied for Stewart for the points lead this season but lost on a tiebreaker. Edwards had just one win last year. Edwards has never won the season-long championship.
Harvick finished third in the 2011 standings, 58 points out of first. Harvick had four wins this past year. Harvick has never won the Sprint Cup Championship in his career.
Kenseth finished fourth in the point standings last year. He was 73 points out of first and had three victories on the year. Kenseth last won the season-long championship back in 2003, his only Sprint Cup Championship.
