CONCORD, NC (ATS Consultants) - Jeff Gordon won the pole for the Bank of America 500 race but who will take home the checkered flag tonight?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Jimmie Johnson is a 4/1 favorite to win tonight's race while Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch are both 6/1, respectively. Kasey Kahne, meanwhile, is 7/1 to win, while Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon are both 8/1.
Tonight's 2013 Bank of America 500 will take place from Charlotte Motor Speedway at 7:46PM ET. Below are our picks for tonight's race.
Jimmie Johnson (4/1)
Johnson is second in the point standings, trailing Kenseth by only 3 points. He has five wins and 12 top 5s this year, and has compiled six wins at Charlotte with an average finish of 11.9. His driver rating at the track is 110.0, which ranks tops of any driver. Johnson qualified fourth for this race and should run upfront throughout the night, making him a great buy for bettors. Even at 4/1 he represents some value.
Kevin Harvick (8/1)
Harvick currently ranks third in the Sprint Cup Standings and has three wins in 30 starts this season. He also has eight top-5 finishes and 16 top 10s to go along with his 2,158 points this season. He has an average finish of 15.00 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and won here back in May. He also collected a win in May of 2011 and May of 2007 here, so he has found success on this track multiple times before.
Live Long Shot:
Brian Vickers (40/1)
Vickers has run well in recent weeks, finishing 32nd at Kansas last Sunday and 12th at Dover the week before. He also has a 38th-place finish at Chicago in mid-September and a 24th-place finish at Richmond early last month. But he also finished seventh at New Hampshire last month and does have a win at Charlotte for his career, which came back in May of 2005.
