2013 NASCAR Daytona 500 Odds: Danica Patrick Wins The Pole

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – Danica Patrick made history on Sunday, as she became the first female pole winner for the Daytona 500.
Patrick won the pole while Jeff Gordon was second in Sunday’s qualifying. These two will now hold the top two spots for next weekend’s race, but the rest of the field will be set during Thursday’s Gatorade Duel races. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still the favorite to win this race, as he has 17/2 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Gordon (12/1), Kyle Busch (12/1), and Tony Stewart (12/1). Patrick now has 18/1 odds to win this race.
Earnhardt Jr. is a past winner of this event, as he took the title in 2004. He finished second last year and in 2010 as well. Junior finished 12th in the NASCAR standings last year and had one victory.
Gordon is a three-time Daytona 500 winner, but his last victory came in 2005. He has not had much recent success in the race, finished outside the top 25 the last three years. Gordon finished 10th in last year’s NASCAR standings. He had two wins on the season.
Busch has never won the Daytona 500. He placed 17th in this event last year and eighth in 2011. Busch finished 13th in the point standings last year. He had just one win on the season.
Stewart has never won this race. He placed 16th last year and 13th in 2011. Stewart placed ninth in the point standings a year ago. He had three wins on the year.
