2014 NASCAR Daytona 500 Opening Odds: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Favored

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – The 2014 Daytona 500 is just under a month away. Here is a look at the opening odds to win this annual race.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the favorite to win this year’s race, as he has 8/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Jimmie Johnson (10/1), Matt Kenseth (10/1) and Kyle Busch (11/1).
Dale Jr. has competed in this race 14 times and he has one victory, back in 2004. He has finished second in the race three of the last four years.
Johnson has competed in the Daytona 500 12 times. He is a two-time winner, including last year’s race. Prior to last year’s race he has finished outside the top 25 the previous six years.
Kenseth has competed in this race 14 times. He was the winner in 2012 and 2009. He finished 37th last year and 34th in 2011.
Busch has competed in this race nine times and never won. His best finish was fourth in 2008. He has only finished in the top 10 of the race twice and finished 34th last year.
