2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Updated Odds: Johnson Favored
By Drew Sharper

(TheSpread) – The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season is set to get underway four weeks from Sunday. Here is an updated look at the odds to win the 2014 Sprint Cup title.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jimmie Johnson is still the favorite to win the 2014 title, as he has 12/5 odds. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (15/2), Matt Kenseth (15/2) and Denny Hamlin (10/1).

Johnson claimed his sixth Sprint Cup championship last season, his first since 2010. He also won the championship from 2006-2010. Johnson won last year’s title by 19 points over Kenseth.

Busch has never won the Sprint Cup title. Last season, Busch finished in fourth place, 55 points out of first place. That was Busch’s top performance in a season in his career. His previous best was fifth in 2007.

Kenseth is a former Sprint Cup champion. He claimed the title in 2003. Kenseth finished in second last season, coming up just short against Johnson, mostly due to a 23rd-placed finished in the second-to-last race of the year.

Hamlin has never won the Sprint Cup title but there has always been a strong feeling that he should contend for one. He placed third in the 2006 season and second in 2010. Hamlin finished 23rd last year, but that was mostly due to missing four races because of an injury.

The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season begins on Sunday, Feb. 23 with the running of the Daytona 500. For a complete look at the odds to win the 2014 Sprint Cup Championship, see below.
