The 2009 Formula 1 season wraps up on Sunday, Nov. 1 with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
This is the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and will be the first night-day race in Formula 1, as the race will begin under the lights and finish in the morning.
As has been the case most of the season, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are the pre-race favorites to win.
Bet the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Vettel and Hamilton have opened with 9/4 odds to win according to the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds are Mark Webber (6/1), Jenson Button (7/1), and Ruben Barrichello (7/1).
Button has already locked up the 2009 F1 Championship, as he leads the rest of the field by 15 points heading into Sunday’s race, where a driver can score a maximum of 10 points. Button has won six events this year and finished in the top 10 in 15 races. Button has not won since the Turkish Grand Prix on June 7.
Vettel is second in the standings with 74 points, and trying to hold off Barrichello, who is two points behind him. Vettel has three wins and 11 top 10’s this year. Vettel has finished in the top four in his last three races, including a victory in the Japanese Grand Prix.
Hamilton sits fifth in the standings and has two wins on the year. Hamilton has finished third in back-to-back races, which followed a win in the Singapore Grand Prix.
Webber is fourth in the standings with two wins, including the Brazilian Grand Prix, the last F1 race. Webber has finished in the top 10 on 11 occasions this season.
Barrichello has two wins this year, with the last being the Italian Grand Prix on Sept. 13. Barrichello has finished in the top 10 in 15 races this season and has been in the top eight in his last six races.
