IRL Odds: 2010 Sao Paulo Indy 300 – Will Power Favored By Oddsmakers
The 2010 IndyCar Racing League season kicks off this Sunday from the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil for the 2010 Sao Paulo Indy 300.
The first race will take place on the streets of Sao Paulo, a road course race that favors some specialists that don’t regularly compete in the IRL. This will be the first running of an IRL race outside of North America or Japan since 2000.
Of all the drivers, road specialist Will Power is favored to win the event.
Power has 7/2 odds to win according to odds makers from the online sports book SBGGLOBAL. Other short odds to win are Helio Castroneves (4/1) and Scott Dixon (4/1).
Considered a road specialist, Power has won a road course race each of the last two IRL seasons. In the six races he finished in 2009, he placed in the top 10 in all of them and finished in the top five in four of them.
A 14-time IRL race winner, Castroneves finished fourth in the IRL standings last year. He won two events while finishing in the top five in seven events. Castroneves struggled toward the end of last season, failing to finish better than fifth in his last five races, which included two races where he had to retire early.
Dixon finished second in the IRL standings last year but is a two-time series champion. He holds 21-career victories in seven years of service with Ganassi Racing. Dixon won five events last season and finished in the top three of the last three races.
