Marcos Ambrose to drive No. 9 for RPM in 2011
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -Marcos Ambrose will drive the No. 9 Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports in 2011.
Ambrose announced a multiyear deal with RPM on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Australian will replace Kasey Kahne, who is leaving RPM at the end of the season to drive for Red Bull Racing before moving on to Hendrick Motorsports.
Stanley Black & Decker will be the primary sponsor for the No. 9 car.
Ambrose announced last month he was leaving his ride in the No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing Toyota at the end of the year. He is winless in 70 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts, but does have three victories in the Nationwide Series, all at Watkins Glen.
Ambrose is currently 26th in points in the Cup series in 2010. His best finish was third at Watkins Glen two weeks ago.
