Kevin Harvick is the early leader in the season standings at 331. Jimmie Johnson is 12th despite winning last week at Fontana. Current title odds have Johnson as the obvious favorite (+300), followed by Jeff Gordon (+600), Mark Martin (+800), Kyle Busch (+1000) and Tony Stewart (+1000).
There have only been 12 Sprint Cup races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, dating back to 1998. It was called the Shelby 427 last year, but the race distance returns to 400 miles this year, thus the name change.
Kyle Busch took the pole the last two years, winning last season. Carl Edwards won in 2008, with Jimmie Johnson winning the three years prior (2005-2007). Matt Kenseth from 2003-2004.
Note that Jeff Burton is the only driver who averages a top-10 finish (9.8) here. He won in 1999 and 2000, and finished third last year and fifth in 2008.
