The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will race under the lights once again as it takes to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Pep Boys Auto 500 on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Bet the Pep Boys Auto 500

Johnson is a 4/1 favorite to win the race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (6/1), Carl Edwards (7/1), Jeff Gordon (7/1), and Mark Martin (7/1).

Johnson is a two-time winner of the Pep Boys Auto 500, but hasn’t finished better than eighth in his last four races. Johnson has three wins on the year and has finished in the top 10 15 times in 2009. Johnson sits second in the points standings, 220 points behind Tony Stewart.

Busch is sitting just on the outside of the chase, in 13th place, but is only 34 points behind Matt Kenseth for the final slot. Busch won the last Sprint Cup race, the Sharpie 500 on Aug. 22 to help him climb from 15th in the standings to 13th. Busch has four wins in 2009, but has finished outside the top 10 in six of his last nine races.

Edwards is a two-time winner of the Pep Boys Auto 500. Edwards is the defending champion of the race and is currently fifth in the points standings. Edwards is winless in 2009 for the Sprint Cup series, but has 11 top-10 finishes this season.

Gordon is also a two-time winner of this event. Gordon is comfortably third in the points standings and has 16 top-10 finishes and 11 top-five finishes in 2009. Gordon has finished outside the top 20 in two of his last three standings.

Martin is also a two-time winner of this event, with his last victory coming in 1994. Martin is currently 10th in the standings and is only 60 points ahead of Busch in the 13th position. Martin has four wins in 2009 and is coming off a second-place finish in the Sharpie 500. Martin has finished in the top 10 in four of his last six races.

The Pep Boys Auto 500 will take place Sunday, Sept. 6 from Atlanta Motor Speedway at 7:30 p.m. ET. For complete odds and track information on this year’s event, see below.
