NASCAR Odds: Banking 500 From Lowe’s Motor Speedway
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will drive under the lights at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Saturday for the 2009 NASCAR Banking Odds 500.
Current points leader and three-time defending Sprint Cup champion, Jimmie Johnson, is favored to win this year’s event.
Johnson is a 3/1 favorite to win the race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win Mark Martin (6/1) and Jeff Gordon (7/1).
Johnson is a two-time winner of this event and leads the point standings by 12 over Martin thanks to his win last week in the Pepsi 500. Johnson has finished in the top 10 in all four Chase for the Championship races, including two victories.
Martin is a three-time winner of this event, with his last win coming in 1998. Martin has finished no worse than seventh in any Chase race and has one victory during that time. On the year, Martin has five wins to his credit.
Gordon sits fifth in the standings, 105 points behind his teammate, Johnson. Gordon is a two-time winner of this event, with his last win coming in 2007. Gordon has back-to-back runner-up finishes and has one win in 2009.
