NASCAR Odds: Ford 400 From Homestead-Miami Speedway
The 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ends its season on Sunday with the 2009 Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Jimmie Johnson has a very comfortable 108-point lead over Mark Martin heading into the final race, and Johnson is the pre-race favorite to win Sunday’s event.
Johnson is a 5/1 favorite to win the race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Martin (6/1), Tony Stewart (8/1), Jeff Gordon (8/1), and Kyle Busch (8/1).
Johnson will likely race conservatively on Sunday, as he needs to finish 25th or better to win his fourt-straight Sprint Cup Championship. Johnson has never won on this track, but has five top-10 finishes in eight starts. Johnson has won three of his last six races.
Martin has not won at this trick, but has four top-five finishes in nine starts. Martin has finished fourth in back-to-back races and has finished in the top eight in 10 of his last 12 races.
Stewart is fifth in the standings, 285 points behind Johnson. Stewart won his first two races at Homestead, but has not won there since. Stewart has five top 10’s in 10 starts at this track.
Gordon is third in the standings, 169 points behind Johnson. Gordon has never won at this track, but has finished in the top 10 in eight of his 10 career races at Homestead.
Busch has raced at Homstead four times in his career, and not finished better than 19th in any of the four races. Busch is not in the Chase for the Championship, and has finished outside the top 10 in six of his last eight races.
