NASCAR Odds: Pepsi 500 From Auto Club Speedway
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series takes to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. for the 2009 Pepsi 500.
The two-time defending race champion, Jimmie Johnson, is the pre-race favorite to win this week’s event.
Johnson is a 7/2 favorite to win the race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Mark Martin (11/2), Jeff Gordon (11/2), and Tony Stewart (7/1).
Johnson is 18 points behind Martin for the first place in the Sprint Cup standings. Johnson has finished in the top 10 in the last three races, including a win two weeks ago in the AAA 400.
Martin leads the standings and has won five times in 2009. Martin has finished in the top 10 in his last six races.
Gordon is seventh in the standings, 103 points behind Martin. Gordon has finished in the top 10 four of the last five races.
Stewart is fourth in the standings, 67 points behind Martin for first place. Stewart has four wins on the year, with the last one coming last week in the Price Chopper 400.
