NASCAR Odds: SaveMart 350 From Sonoma – Stewart, Gordon Favored

NASCAR shifts to Infineon Raceway this weekend and the 2009 SaveMart 350 in Sonoma, California. Oddsmakers have made Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon the opening favorites.

Bet on the SaveMart 350

Stewart currently leads the 2009 Sprint Cup Series Standings with 2,189 points. In 15 starts this season, he has one win, seven top-5 and 11 top-10 finishes. Along with Gordon, oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made Stewart a 11/2 favorite.

Gordon currently ranks behind Stewart in the Sprint Cup Standings with 2,142 points (47 points behind). In 15 starts in 2009, Gordon has one win, eight top-5 and 10 top-10 finishes.

If you’re looking for a driver who has had success at this event in previous years, look no farther than Gordon. The last time Gordon won the SaveMart 350 was in 2006 but before then, he also won in 2004, 2000, 1999 and 1998.

Kyle Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and Marcos Ambrose round out the rest of the top 5. Busch is 6/1, Montoya is 15/2 and Ambrose is 13/1. Jimmie Johnson and Robby Gordon are also 15/1 to win.

Kyle Busch won the 2008 SaveMart 350 and Montoya won in 2007, which is why they have short odds to win this year. Stewart won in 2005 and in 2001.

The SaveMart 350 will take place this Sunday, June 21 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. For complete odds on Sunday’s race, as well as information about the track, see below.

I posted last week's colum and picks, missed both plays, stopped back today to say I'll be back this week to try and make up for it, but don't see the post.

Was it removed for content, or did I forget to click "send" or 'submit" after I entered it?

Didn't like the race, or plays, and stated so in the column to warn off bettors, having a good season so I foolishly played anyway and lost both, deservedly so.

Anyone?

Thanks for the clarification/correction. I looked for it under the thread I started, didn't realize I added it to the main "picks" thread.

By the way, the Lemieux story - true; really happened.
