Rain cancels Nationwide Series qualifying

Fort Worth (Sports Network) - Kevin Harvick will be on the pole for Saturday afternoon's O'Reilly 300 Nationwide Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway after rain forced the cancellation of qualifying. The No.33 KHI Chevrolet driver gets the pole because his car leads the series in owner points.

Starting alongside Harvick will be series points leader Clint Bowyer.

Defending Series champion Carl Edwards and Jeff Burton will start in row two.

Bowyer and Edwards appear to be in a season- long battle for supremacy. Last year, Edwards built a huge lead (over 700 points) and coasted to the title. It doesn't look as if that strategy will work this time around. Bowyer has become a force both in this series and the Sprint Cup Series. He leads the "junior" circuit by 11 points over Edwards.

Although Bowyer and Edwards will likely vie for this week's win, expect Harvick to be back in the mix too. He returns to a track where he as won a series-high four times. Harvick won the spring race in 2001 and has captured the last three fall races at Texas.

The race is schedule to drop the green flag on Saturday at 3 p.m. (et).
