NASCAR -- Pocono 500 PostQ

After posting his second win of the season at Dover Jimmie Johnson is looking to keep that momentum going at Pocono Raceway – and he has done a good job so far. Johnson will start third due to qualifying getting cancelled by rain but did show plenty of power during the practice sessions on Saturday. Johnson was among the quickest cars in the two practice sessions ranking No. 1 overall on our Speed chart. The #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet has been strong at Pocono over the last three events recording a top 10 in each start. Johnson has not won at Pocono since the 2004 season and will be looking to add a second straight win in the Pocono 500.

One driver that has been on a hot streak as of late is Ryan Newman. Newman has powered his way into the fifth position in the point standings due to a string of five consecutive top 10 finishes. He has yet to get to victory lane in his new #39 U.S. Army Chevrolet but is inching his way closer each and every week. Newman has been to victory lane at Pocono before (2002) and he could very easily make the left hand turn into the winners circle once again. Jump on the Ryan Newman bandwagon for this race.

Jeff Gordon could be in store for a second consecutive poor finish. Gordon has struggled a bit in the last six races and lost the points lead after a 26th place finish at Dover. He has posted three finishes outside the top 20 over the last six races and Pocono has not been kind to him so far this weekend. He lost ground in Happy Hour relegating him to 32nd position on our Speed chart. Gordon does run well at Pocono so he should be a top 20 car but he may not crack the top 10.
