Toyota/Save Mart 350 PostQ

While he did not have the greatest of qualifying runs, starting in 17th position, Juan Pablo Montoya still moved into the top spot on the PostQ forecast for the Toyota/Save Mart 350. Montoya does have a fast car as he ranked in the top 5 in each of the two practice sessions on Saturday which moved him into the 2nd spot on our Speed chart. Montoya has run well at this track in his short career recording his lone Cup win here in 2007 while posting a 6th place finish last season. The #42 Target Chevrolet is making a move up the point standings with back-to-back top 10 finishes. Look for a third straight top 10 run this weekend at Infineon Raceway.

In what surprised many Kyle Busch won this race last season. Busch was not necessarily known as a great road course driver but has been getting better as he has gained more experience, which culminated in the win last season. He is still only averaging a 15th place finish in four career starts at Infineon but he has am 11th place finish and an 8th place to go along with the win. Busch has looked good once again qualifying in the 2nd position while ranking 6th on our Speed chart. He should be in store for a solid run this Sunday afternoon in California.

The highest ranking “road course specialist” on our PostQ forecast is Boris Said, which is not much of a surprise. What is a surprise is that none of the road course specialists rank in the top 20 and there is sure to be a few that will be among the top 20 finishers come the end of the day. Said qualified in the top 10, ranking in the top 20 on our Speed chart, and is in the top 15 in NASCAR’s Driver Rating category. He should be the one road course specialist that makes everyone’s roster this weekend. Along with Said look to Ron Fellows. Fellows did not have the greatest of qualifying runs posting the 29th quickest time but he will be driving the #09 Miccosukee Chevrolet which has been to victory lane once this season already. Fellows was 2nd quick in Happy Hour and has the skills to post a top 20 finish. Grab these two drivers for this race.
