By Drew Sharper
After taking a 1-0 lead in the 2010 NLCS, the San Francisco Giants look to sweep the first two games of the series on the road Sunday night as they take on Philadelphia.
The Giants beat the Phillies 4-3 in Game 1 of the NCLS on Saturday night. It was a big win for the Giants as they beat Phillies’ starter Roy Halladay.
Cody Ross had a pair of home runs to lead San Francisco while Tim Lincecum earned the win, pitching seven innings with eight strikeouts and three runs allowed.
Here is a look at Sunday’s Game 2 matchup and the key trends to consider.
San Francisco Giants at Philadelphia Phillies, 8:15PM ET
The Giants are sending Jonathan Sanchez to the mound and he has a 3-1 record against the Phillies in his career with a 2.48 ERA and the Giants are 4-1 when he pitches against the Phillies. The Giants are also 9-2 in the last 11 road starts for Sanchez.
Roy Oswalt takes the mound for Philadelphia. He is 6-8 in his career against the Giants with a 3.61 ERA. His teams are 7-10 when he starts against San Francisco.
The Giants showed that they wouldn’t be intimidated by the Phillies’ pitching and that they have a pretty good staff in their own right. Look for Sanchez to best Oswalt on the mound and give the Giants a 2-0 lead.
