2010 MLB World Series Game 1: Rangers vs. Giants Pick
By Drew Sharper
The seemingly unstoppable Cliff Lee leads the Texas Rangers into Game 1 of the World Series against Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
Lee has been dominant in the post season as he has pitched 24 innings over hits three starts with just 13 hits and two runs allowed in that stretch to go with 34 strikeouts and only one walk.
Lincecum is 2-1 in four appearances in the playoffs. In his starts he has gone at least seven innings in each one. He has pitched 23.1 innings and allowed 14 hits with six runs and five walks as well as 30 strikeouts.
Here are some trends to consider and my pick for Game 1 of the World Series:
Texas Rangers vs. San Francisco Giants, 7:55PM ET
The Giants have won all three meetings with the Rangers over the last three years, but Lincecum has never faced off with Texas. Lee is 3-0 in his career against the Giants with a 1.13 ERA.
Despite Lee’s dominance, trends favor the Giants as they are 7-0 after a day off and 5-1 in their last six Game 1’s. The Rangers are just 4-13 in their last 17 games against the national league and 2-5 in their last seven Game 1’s.
