2011 World Series Odds to Win – Yankees Favored
By Anthony Rome

Apparently oddsmakers weren’t too impressed with the Giants’ domination of the Rangers in the 2010 Fall Classic, but the Yankees are favored to win the 2011 World Series.

The Giants haven’t even been champions for a week yet and they’re already playing second fiddle to teams like the Yankees and Phillies again. Despite their amazing starting rotation being set for next year, oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Giants 10/1 to win the 2011 World Series.

The Yankees, on the other hand, have a mess of a starting rotation and continue to age yet they’re 4/1 to win next season. Only the Phillies at 6/1 have odds that resemble that of the Bronx Bombers’.

Of course, oddsmakers also know that the Yankees will do whatever it takes this offseason to win back the trophy that they feel as though belongs in New York every year. They already have their sites set on free agents like Cliff Lee and Carl Crawford, so chances are the Bombers will be the team to beat come spring training.

The defending American League Champions aren’t getting a whole lot of love either. Oddsmakers have made the Rangers a 16/1 long shot to win the 2011 World Series, despite the fact that they’ll have a similar lineup coming back. Texas led the league in batting average this year and with guys like Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, Nelson Cruz and Evlis Andrus returning, they’re going to be a formidable foe again. But can they convince Lee to return?

Other teams expected to be in the mix next year are the Red Sox at 10/1, the Rays and Cardinals at 14/1, the Twins at 16/1, the Braves at 18/1 and the Reds at 20/1. For a complete list of 2011 World Series odds, see below.
