3DW Sports Betting Line Moves – Crucial Betting Info
By Doug Upstone
Thursday’s sports wagering menu looks like a bowl of gumbo, with a little bit of everything. You can find baseball Line Moves on sides and totals and Week 2 football action on FOX that has caught the attention of the betting masses. Take a peek and see what they are thinking before tonight’s action.
MLB- Texas at Baltimore 7:05 EDT MASN
The Rangers are not inspiring much confidence for baseball bettors tonight, having been blitzed by Tampa Bay (the Rays, not the Buccaneers) in series sweep. Texas has lost four of five and catapulted to -170 or lower on the money line after starting at -181. The Rangers seek to get back on winning track immediately, trying to hunt down first division crown in 11 years. Texas does have incentive, having lost four-game series to Baltimore at home just over a month ago. After a lightning start with Buck Showalter as manager, the Orioles have returned to being the Orioles and are 2-18 after batting .225 or worse over a five-game span this season. In addition, home underdogs with a money line of +125 to +175, who are poor AL offensive team scoring 4.5 or less runs a game, against a team with a good bullpen ERA of 3.75 or lower, are 17-58 in August affairs.
NFL- New England at Atlanta 8:00 EDT FOX
When this televised tilt opened at Atlanta -1.5 Monday night, it was just a matter of hours until the football betting lines changed the number to -2.5 for the Falcons. That figure has been the same since with money fairly evenly divided on both sides. Both the Falcons and New England won and covered their opening preseason contests and Atlanta is 25-17 ATS as August football favorites. The Patriots arrive in the south 9-6 ATS off a SU win in the preseason since 2000. (Note: 3-5 ATS L5Y)
MLB- N.Y. Mets at Houston 8:05 EDT SNY
The Mets have managed a 6-5 record in past 11 contests in spite of scoring 1.9 runs per game. How have they accomplished such a feat, with four pitched shutouts and a grand total of three runs in the other two victories. Online sports betting analysts are not convinced New York has it in them in Game Four of the series with Houston. The Mets were +101 underdogs as the sun rose in the great state of Texas and they have been shifted to +110 or higher at most wagering outlets. The name Pat Misch (0-1, 1.50 ERA) doesn’t inspire confidence, especially in just his second start of the year. The Metropolitans are also just 5-18 in road games after allowing two runs or less. It’s not necessarily advisable to follow the crowd however, since if you take away the eight runs the Astros scored on Sunday, they are totaling 2.5 RPG in past seven.
MLB- Tampa Bay at Oakland 10:05 EDT SUN
Trevor Cahill (12-5, 2.50) is yet another young hurler making his mark in the big leagues this season at just 22-years old. This is about obscure a record as you can find, but whose record it is makes it really astonishing. Cahill could break Nolan Ryan’s Major League record (California Angels, 1972-73) of 20 consecutive starts of five innings or more yielding six hits or fewer against Tampa Bay tonight. Cahill is 3-1 with an unyielding 0.28 ERA in his last four outings. For those participating in sports betting, evidently they not that impressed as the Athletics have slumped from -136 ML choice to -125 or lower. Tampa Bay’s impressive destruction of Texas deserves merit, as does 35-22 road record, the finest in the game. Before throwing money at the Rays, just think about their 6-16 record in road outings after three or more consecutive Overs the past three years.
MLB – Colorado at L.A. Dodgers 10:10 EDT
Neither the Rockies nor Dodgers appear to have postseason plans, floundering around .500. Nonetheless, somebody has to win the series which is tied at 1-1, but the total has grabbed most of the attention in this NL West conflict. This matchup opened at 7.5 and was altered to 7 by baseball bettors. Colorado had not scored many runs against pitchers like Ted Lilly (6-8, 3.44) and are 15-2 UNDER vs. a NL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.150 or better this season. The Dodgers have had more than their share of scoring droughts and are 8-0 UNDER at Chavez Ravine after three straight games where they had seven or less hits. Totally on board with the knowledge Lilly is 12-1 UNDER at home when the total is 7 to 8.5 the last two years (Team's Record), however staring everyone in the face is Jorge De Le Rosa’s (4-3, 4.99) 0-5 record vs. L.A. with blown-up ERA of 6.56. Hmmm
