-Chris Gomez, Orioles, hit a grand slam in a 6-4 win over the Royals.

FINISHING TOUCH
Jason Giambi homered with one out in the 13th inning and eight New York pitchers held Oakland scoreless for the final 12 frames of the Yankees' 4-3 victory over the Athletics on Saturday night. The game remained tied until Giambi's homer to right-center off Lenny DiNardo (0-1) gave the Yankees their first lead of the game and ended their five-game losing streak against the A's.
COMEBACKS
Hudson singled three times then brought home the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 on Saturday night. ... Chris Gomez hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to hand the Kansas City Royals their fourth straight loss, 6-4.
STREAKS
Curt Schilling pitched eight innings to extend his scoreless streak to 14 to lead the Boston Red Sox to an 8-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.
BEANBALL BALLYHOO
Orlando Hernandez was ejected for hitting opposing pitcher Shawn Hill with a beanball in the Mets' 6-2 loss to Washington on Saturday. Plate umpire Mike Winters considered issuing a warning, but instead ejected an incredulous Hernandez, who argued vehemently. Once El Duque retreated to the bench, he climbed to the top step of the dugout and spoke calmly to Hill, explaining he had no intention of plunking him.
WALK THIS WAY
Baltimore pitcher Daniel Cabrera has yielded only three walks in three starts this season. He led the AL with 104 walks in 2006. Cabrera allowed four runs, three earned, and seven hits in five innings of the Orioles' 6-4 win over Kansas City on Saturday.
INJURIES
Aramis Ramirez missed his second straight game with the Cubs on Saturday with tendinitis in his right wrist. Ramirez, who is batting .406, hopes to return in a couple of days. ... Jason Jennings will miss at least two starts for the Astros with tendinitis in his throwing elbow. The right-hander's MRI exam on Saturday revealed no ligament damage.

Thanks to Seattle's wacky string of weather-related postponements, Batista made just his second start with the Mariners on Saturday, pitching into the seventh inning of an 8-3 win over Texas.
Blue Jays place Ryan on DL

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays placed pitcher B.J. Ryan on the 15-day disabled with an elbow injury Sunday.
Ryan, the Blue Jays closer, already has recorded two blown saves in just five opportunities this season. Last year, the left-hander only had four blown saves in 42 chances.
Setup man Jason Frasor is expected to take over the closer role while Ryan is on the shelf.
To replace Ryan on the roster, the Blue Jays recalled pitcher Jamie Vermilyea from their Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
Astros put Jennings on 15-day DL with elbow tendinitis
PHILADELPHIA — Astros righthander Jason Jennings, who was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday and sent to visit team doctors in Houston, will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right elbow's flexor tendon.
"That's probably good news," manager Phil Garner said of the results. "Tendinitis is better than (an injury to the) ligaments, obviously. It appears that the ligaments are intact and no issues there. He'll take medication. He'll have to be DL'd. He'll miss a few starts, and we'll get him going back again. If he's injured, this is probably good news right now."
After undergoing an MRI and meeting with Astros physicians Dr. Tom Mehlhoff and Dr. David Lintner on Saturday, Jennings, 28, learned he likely will miss two or three starts.
"Certainly the fact that there's no ligament damage is a positive, but he does have an issue in the elbow that hopefully we can get through and miss a few starts and get him back on board," Astros general manager Tim Purpura said. "I talked to Jason this afternoon, and he sounded really good and very optimistic about coming back."
Because it appears a storm might force today's game with the Phillies to be postponed, Purpura and Garner are waiting to make a decision on their corresponding roster move.
If the series finale is postponed, the Astros can use Wandy Rodriguez to start Monday and Chris Sampson on Tuesday against Florida at Minute Maid Park and then go with Roy Oswalt and Woody Williams on regular rest Wednesday and Thursday in the two-game set at Cincinnati.
If today's game is indeed rained out, the Astros won't need another starter until Friday at Miller Park against the Milwaukee Brewers.
If that's the case, they can call up a reliever from the minors instead of a starter and then call up a starter Friday if they decide against starting Brian Moehler.
If the game isn't rained out in Philadelphia, the Astros will need another starter by Tuesday, at the latest.
"We're not in any particular jam right now," Garner said. "We still have a fresh bullpen. We're still OK from a bullpen standpoint. We're not pushed to make a move tonight, pending weather.
"They're saying there's 100 percent chance of just rotten weather (today). We'll see what happens at the end of (today). We're not in need of anything. Our staff is OK, so we're OK from that standpoint."
