No games scheduled.

STARS

Monday

-Grady Sizemore, Indians, hit a leadoff home run to help Cleveland eliminate the New York Yankees with a 6-4 victory.

MOVING ON

Cleveland beat the New York Yankees 6-4 on Monday to advance to their first ALCS since 1998, opening Friday night at Boston. The Indians were only 2-5 against the Red Sox this season, but will have aces C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona rested for Fenway Park.

SNAPPED

Alex Rodriguez hit a solo homer off in the seventh inning of New York's 6-4 season-ending loss to Cleveland on Monday, ending a streak of 57 consecutive postseason at-bats without an RBI since 2004. He finished 4-for-15 in the series and is mired in an 8-for-59 (.136) playoff spiral dating to his Game 4 home run against Boston in the 2004 ALCS.

FAREWELL, JOE?

Paul Byrd and the Indians bullpen closed out New York 6-4 in Game 4 on Monday, completing another first-round debacle for the Yankees that might cost manager Joe Torre his job. Torre managed the Yankees to four World Series titles in his first five years and reached the playoffs in all 12 of his seasons. He sits second to Joe McCarthy on the club's career list with 1,173 wins as a manager

SPEAKING

''It's tough. It's exciting. We fought hard and got it done here.'' - Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore, after his team eliminated the New York Yankees and advanced to the ALCS. The Indians are seeking their first World Series title since 1948.
