My Friday comp play will be the Braves on the Run Line to take care of business against the Marlins once again.
It is now Atlanta's division to lose, as the Bravos have followed their ugly 4-game sweep at the hands of Colorado at Sun Trust Park with a 3-game road sweep in Pittsburgh, and last night extended their winning ways with a 5-0 blanking of the Marlins.
Atlanta has now won 7 straight over Miami, and all 7 have come by at least 2 runs or more. The Braves have also won 9 of the last 10 this season over the Marlins by 2 runs or better, and they are 8-1 the last 9 times tonight's starter Mike Foltyniewicz has taken the hill against the Fish. That mark includes a 2-0 mark this season with a 0.69 ERA.
Dan Straily counters for Miami, he is 2-1 versus Atlanta this season but has an ERA over 4. Based on all of the numbers I just typed out, do not be surprised if the Braves win this one by another 5-0 final score tonight.

I suppose if you're going to host the league-leading Boston Red Sox, it's good to have some momentum flowing. The Tampa Bay Rays have won five straight and seven of 10, a string of 10 games that has seen them outscore foes by seven runs and utilize a .264 batting average to regain a winning edge.
I'm taking the home underdogs tonight, and won't bother listing pitchers, as it's all about the momentum and motivation.
The Rays have a long way to go, but they're only nine games back in the wild-card race. They're 38-24 at Tropicana Field, where they have the ninth-best home batting average (.259).
Leading the offensive charge tonight will be C.J. Cron, who is batting .252 for the Rays this season, while his .477 slugging percentage is 24th in the American League. Meanwhile, Joey Wendle has nine hits and seven RBIs over his past 10 games for Tampa Bay.
Let's take a shot with the Rays in this one.

Looking at Cleveland and Kansas City to be involved in a low-scoring game this Friday night with Mike Clevinger and Brad Keller on the slab.
Clevinger is fresh off 6 scoreless frames fired at Baltimore. He recorded 7 strikeouts in that game, as the game landed under the total. It marked the 4th time in Clevinger's last 6 starts that the under scored. 8 of his 12 road starts this year have held Under, as his road ERA is 2.75.
Against KC, Clevinger stands 4-0 with a 2.17 ERA, so chances the Royals mount an offensive attack do not appear good.
Brad Keller has been a bright spot for the disappointing Royals. The rookie has recorded back-to-back victories, with just 2 runs surrendered in 12 innings pitched. He has faced the Indians twice this year - both in relief - and has held them scoreless for 4-plus innings.

My free play for Friday night has to be on the Toronto Blue Jays, a home underdog versus the Philadelphia Phillies. I'm not listing pitchers, either, as it won't be necessary.
After a dominant performance by Thomas Pannone, Ryan Tepera and Joe Biagini on Wednesday, when they combined on a two-hitter in a 6-0 win over Baltimore, the Jays had last night off.
Now they host a Philadelphia team that is struggling terribly right now, having lost nine of 14. Over their last 10 games, the Phillies' staff has a sky-high ERA of 5.38 and the team has been outscored by 26 runs.
This is a good spot for the Jays to keep their three-game win streak going, and potentially extend it to six with a series sweep. Take the home pup.

Friday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Seattle and Arizona at 9:40 pm et on Friday.
I'll back the 'under' at Chase Field on Friday night.
Erasmo Ramirez will take the ball for the Mariners. Since re-joining the Mariners rotation he has pitched well, even if he did last just five innings in his first two starts back. In those two outings he gave up just seven hits and one earned run. He may be catching the D'Backs at the right time as they haven't been tearing the cover off of the baseball lately.
Zack Godley will counter for Arizona. He struggled in his most recent start in San Diego but prior to that he had worked at least into the seventh inning in three straight starts, giving up only three earned runs in 21 innings of work. He has been at his best at home this season, posting a 3.33 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.
Both teams have been trending toward the 'over' lately but I believe that only serves to give us additional value with the 'under' in this spot. Take the under (8*).
