His last turn saw him surrender two runs on six hits to the Boston Red Sox. Chirinos is 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA in two games against Toronto this season. The Rays right-hander has seven quality starts since mid-June. Six of those seven solid outings came against three teams with quality lineups which are in the postseason chase. This being Boston, the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays' Sanchez was solid in his last turn holding the Cleveland Indians to just one run on five hits over five innings. Sanchez will be making his fifth start in July. He takes a 4.95 ERA into Sunday's event against the Rays. Sanchez's surface numbers speak to his pedestrian July work. However, his 4.95 earned run average this month is head and shoulders more acceptable than his 0-6 record in June.
AL East Free Pick
The free pick is a play on Chirinos and the Rays. Sanchez isn't fooling anyone in 2019 and is on the cusp of being designated and surrendering his rotation spot to a Toronto prospect. The Jays are rebuilding and have given a large number of their farmhands opportunities at the Major League level this season. With the end of July trade deadline in sight, following by the roster expansion in September, look for the Blue Jays coaches to give Sanchez plenty of rope on Sunday. The result of finds the Rays earning the victory.

New York Yankees
The Boston Red Sox have been the better team in the first three games of the late July series between the two rivals. Boston has roughed up New York pitching for 38 runs in the first three contests in the series. The Yankees pseudo ace German won each of his first three outings after being activated from the injured list. German's last turn in Minnesota saw him surrender eight runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work on Tuesday.
German' 12-2 record isn't aligned with his 4.03 ERA. Furthermore his 6-1 mark away from Yankee stadium has come via New York's run-scoring lineup and evidence of such support is in his 5.66 ERA as a visitor. Despite a 1.43 HR/9 on the season the Yanks right-hander has improved his underlying peripherals of last year. He has reduced his bases on balls per nine innings from 3.47 last year to 2.09 this season. And his fly ball percentage has decreased by inducing at a 40 percent rate.
Boston Red Sox
Sale has been the poster child of misfortune this season. The lefty is riding a two-game winning streak, the first time this season, but enters Sunday's event having lost both of his starts against New York this season. Sale has been much better than his 5-9 record and his 4.00 ERA. He has for the most part dominated opposing lineups. Sale owns a FIP that is nearly a full run lower than his earned run average. His xFIP is 3.11. Sale has suffered in large part to a ridiculously high .365 BABIP and 17.5% HR rate. Both are the career highs.
Sale has elite an elite 12.9 K/9 and a solid 2.11 BB/9). His average four-seam velo is down a notch (93 mph this year, 94 mph in 2018). The southpaw's 33% hard hit rate is well below the league average but is his personal career high.

The Yankees could be without a top of the order bat. DJ LeMahieu sat out Saturday due to tightness in the groin and underwent an MRI exam. He is questionable for Sunday Night's contest. A big reason for the Red Sox dominating the first three of the series is the resurgence of Andrew Benintendi's bat.
